About SSRG, IITH

The Structural Steel Research Group (SSRG) at IIT Hyderabad is led by Prof. Mahendrakumar Madhavan, Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Hyderabad. The Structural Steel Research Group (SSRG) is dedicated to advancing the sustainable and innovative use of structural steel to address global infrastructure demands. The group’s research spans a wide range of areas, including affordable housing solutions using light gauge steel structures, geometric imperfection studies in cold-formed steel members, metal additive manufacturing, and the structural design of cold-formed steel wall panels. Additional focus areas include CFRP retrofitting of steel structures, connection behavior in cold-formed steel sections, performance of high-strength steel sections, composite steel–concrete construction, and the development of cyclone-resistant structures.
